BEST MOIST CHOCOLATE CAKE

This cake is super moist and rich, but not too rich. And the coffee in this recipe really brings out the flavor of the chocolate. And although this Moist Chocolate Cake Recipe is one layer cake, I made it in two batch and stacked and covered with with chocolate ganache. If you are doing this cake for the children you can substitute the coffee with boiling water. Nice recipe for birthday or dessert. Absolutely a keeper

Best Moist Chocolate Cake

Adapted from :- Click Here - bestmoistchocolatecake.com
2 Cups Flour
2 Cups Sugar
¾ Cup Hershey's Cocoa
2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder (Optional) This will make the cake rise just a little bit more than using the Baking Soda only.
2 Eggs (I use large eggs)
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Cup Buttermilk
Note that you can freeze buttermilk so you have it to make another buttermilk chocolate cake recipe later.
1 Cup Mazola Vegetable Oil
1 ½ Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
1 Cup Strong Coffee - hot

Preparation

  1. Preheat Oven to 300° F
  2. Use Crisco Shortening to lightly grease and flour the 9 x 13 in. Baking Dish.
  3. (It's a one layer chocolate cake!)
  4. Place all the ingredients on the left except the cup of hot coffee into a mixing bowl.
  5. Mix at medium or medium high speed. After about 1 minute add the 1 cup of hot coffee. Then continue to mix until all ingredients are blended and smooth.
  6. Pour into greased and floured baking dish
  7. Bake for 1 hr. (Cupcakes 22 - 23 min. Be sure to use cupcake liners.)
  8. Test by sticking in the middle with a knife. If it comes out clean... it's done! If not put it back in the oven for an additional 5 minutes and then test again.
  9. Allow to cool.

Cook's note

The recipe is for one layer cake, if you want to have a layered chocolate cake you either make it two batch or halved the cake. I used chocolate ganache for the layer.

Thanks to the following who inspired me to try the awesome cake

Maklumat Tentang Buttermilk

Hi Paty, ini la I call chari pasal cake for women, ha ha. Makan 1 piece, nak dua, then tiga, sampai lupa nama mak and how to spell 'diet'.
You sure can make cakes. I love that dark rich blend chocolate colour.

I think if tangkap a female crook nak ask or interrogate her, she won't answer, put one slice of this cake, habis cherita, she will even tell her nenek's name, ha ha.
Like I said before, I wish I am your neighbour, haha.
You have a nice day, Paty, stay beautiful and simpan satu lagu dalam hati.
Lee.

Salam Paty ...

Nak tanya macamana/bagaimana nak dptkan Buttermilk?

Patyskitchen - Exploring Global Flavor Around The World said...

Salam Chik Mimi..eesshhhh buat lawak pula..akak ni baru nak berlajar menghias kek dah kata cantik...Inilah yang paling senang...curah chocolate tabur manik urai..ha...ha...cara orang lama

Patyskitchen - Exploring Global Flavor Around The World said...

I have this problem with some chocolate cake recipes that use oil, entahla kak mcm tak boleh nak masuk plak dgn tekak sy...kalau ada resepi yg guna minyak masak tu i just substitute with butter..pnh sekali sy follow recipe religiously, I could only wallop a small slice pastu tak nak makan...hehehe...I still prefer choc cake w/out the oil but when it comes to banana & carrot cake, I don't mind the oil at all probably because of the addition of cinnamon n nutmeg...

but I will definitely try this one, with or without the mazola..tak tau lagi...hehehe...tqs again for sharing this beautiful recipe kak

Patyskitchen - Exploring Global Flavor Around The World said...

Hi Nur...I believe the thing that made the cake moist and dense tulah minyaknya.....so don't think about the minyak so much...recipe ini banyak dicuba oleh blogger di India...kalau you walk through rata2 dah try and semua bagi great remarks on the cake. Akak pun suka and most likelihood akan kekal dalam my recipe journal.
