ORANGE CUPCAKE

I made this cupcake just to make use of the gooseberry that was given  to me by a colleague. I used to see on TV how famous chef used gooseberry to decorate their cake. It look's so gorgeous and for god sake I haven't seen gooseberry all my life until it was given to me. To those of you who is in the same boat with here's some context on gooseberry excerpted from Wisegeek :-
The gooseberry is a small round fruit that comes in hundreds of varieties. Most plant experts suggest the earliest cultivars of gooseberry plants were in Northern Africa. However, the gooseberry is now grown widely throughout Northern Europe and in North America.

The gooseberry bush stands about 3-5 feet (.91-1.52m) high. The bush has spines, makinggooseberry picking a little harsh on the hands. In North America, the gooseberry’s season extends from May to August. One finds them most frequently in June, but this depends on temperature and location. Gooseberries also seem to withstand harsher temperatures. The makes them easy to grow in areas with frosts and snow.
The fruit itself is usually comparable in size to blueberries. Gooseberries can be round, oblong or teardrop shaped depending upon their variety. They also come in a delightful color range, from green to red to purple. The interior flesh of the berry will match the color of the skin, but has a slightly translucent appearance.
Most liken the unripe gooseberry in taste to a sour grape. The ripened gooseberry is harder to find, but is often compared to the Muscat grape in flavor. Since it is difficult to obtain riper gooseberries, the fruit is often used with sugar in dessert recipes.
I haven't made any orange cupcake before so I made this a try..the ripe gooseberry fit well with these orange cupcakes. These cupcakes are orange and orange essence blended. They have are topped off with orange frosting..but I omitted the frosting, sprinkle powdered sugar and decorated it with the gooseberry. Simple and elegant

Orange cupcake recipe
1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature) / 1/2 cawan mentega
2/3 cups sugar / 2/3 cawan gula
3 eggs (room temperature) / 3 biji telur
1 1/2 cups flour / 1 1/2 cawan tepung
1 1/2 tsp. baking  powder / 1 1/2 sdt baking powder
1/2 tsp salt / 1/2 sdt garam
1/4 cup fresh orange juice / 1/4 cawan jus oren
2 tsp orange extract / 2 sdt esen oren

Beat the butter until pale, then add the sugar. Add one egg at a time, blend until all incorporated. Then add in flour baking powder and salt, followed by orange juice and extract. Once it's all blended fill lined cupcake pan with batter 2/3 full./Pukul mentega sehingga berubah warnaya. Kemudian masukkan gula.

Having you butter are room temperature helps it to beat smooth, and eggs at room temperature prevent the cake from becoming too dry. (you can easily place the eggs in their shell in warm water for 2 minutes or take them out of the refrigerator for 30 minutes)

Bake at 350 for 18 minutes/ Bakar pada suhu 350 F selama 18 minit.

This recipe makes 12 cupcakes.

Orange Frosting
1/2 cup butter (room temperature)
1/2 cup shortening
4 cups sifted powdered sugar
 2 T. orange juice
1tsp. orange extract

Beat butter, shortening until smooth, then add in sifted powdered sugar along with orange juice and extract.
