This is a very simple vegetable curry that can accompany any meal. You can have it plain white or yellow. If you prefer your masak lemak to be yellow in color, add 1 tsp of turmeric powder. This masak lemak serve best with sambal belacan and salted fish. So ENJOY

300 g bean sprouts / 300 g taugeh
1 bunch chives - cut into 1" length / 1 genggam kucai potong 1" panjang
3 red chilies - julienne / 3 biji cili merah hiris memanjang
200 g shrimps - shelled / 200 g udang basah dibuang kulit
2 tofu - cut into big cube /2 keping tofu di potong dadu
2 cups coconut milk / 2 cawan santan pekat
2 cups water / 2 cawan air
salts to taste / garam secukup rasa
1/2 tsp chicken cube / 1/2 sdt pati ayam

  1. In a pot, put in all ingredients except except bean sprouts, tofu and chives. Stir continuously or your coconut milk will split.
  2. Next, put in the remaining ingredients.
  3. Add salt and sugar to taste.
  4. Serve hot with your sambal belacan and salted fish.


Masak lemak ini sedap dengan nasi panas, ikan masin dan sambal belacan. Masakan bajet tetapi cukup menyelerakan
