SWEDISH MEATBALLS - THE IKEA STYLE

I love IKEA meatballs. Never fail to drop for a plate of it's meatballs every time I'm in KL.  Really...really crazy with this dish and I ran across a recipe for IKEA-style Swedish meatballs and had made it several times.! And I must say, these turned out better than the frozen, reheated ones you get at the cafe. Well to those who are in the same shoes with me, a BIG FAN of IKEA meatballs and you are distance away to get what you are craving for, check out this recipe, though not 100% like the IKEA one but you are close to 80% which I considered good enough, so let's roll your sleeve and make these meatballs.

Meatballs
1 kg ground beef
1 eggs
1/2 cup cream (half and half) or 1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1 small onions, finely chopped
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
2 small cold boiled potatoes
2 tablespoons butter
salt and pepper to taste
1 dash allspice (optional)
oil for frying
Cream Sauce
1/2 cup half-and-half
1 cup low sodium beef broth
1/4 teaspoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon all purpose flour
1 tablespoon butter
salt and pepper to taste
For Meatballs:.
Melt butter in a hot pan. Put in and fry the onion until translucent. Set aside. Mash the potatoes. Mix all the ingredients and the fried onion until they reach meatball consistency. Season with salt, pepper and  ground allspice (optional). Shape the mixture into a golf ball size or smaller. Set aside. Fry the meatballs slowly in oil.
Cream Sauce:
Melt butter in pan and add flour, whisk till golden brown. Add beef broth and cream together with the flour until desired thickness. Season well with salt and pepper.
Serve the meatballs with the sauce, boiled or masked potatoes, and lingonberry jam. They also taste good with cranberry sauce.

Saya amat mengemari Bebola Daging IKEA, sudahlah murah sedap pula tu.

- SELAMAT MENCUBA
