BREAKFAST & BRUNCH MENU - FRENCH TOAST & MEE SIAM

sFrench toast has always been a favorite Holiday morning brunch around our house. It is tasty, easy to make, and makes a good hearty breakfast. It works best with several day old French or Italian loaf bread, thickly sliced. Fresh bread, or bread that has been sliced too thin tends to get mushy and fall apart when soaked in the egg milk mixture. In Malaysia we normally used the normal white bread.

One of my favorite variations, is the maple syrup.

Variations and suggestions:
Eat your French toast with powdered sugar, cinnamon, maple syrup, jelly, or fruit on top.

This morning I made  French Toast and Mee Siam. Filling enough for the children until I return from work to get the dinner done.

INGREDIENTS.

2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup milk
8 slices bread

METHOD

Mix together all of the above ingredients except for the bread. In a skillet pan, melt some butter. Put the bread in the mixture and cook them in the skillet over medium heat for 2 minutes on each side or until they are slightly brown.
