CRUNCHY CORNFLAKE PRAWN FRITTER / UDANG CORNFLAKE RANGGUP


Deep Fried Cornflake Prawn Fritter

Here's a really great recipe for Deep Fried Cornflake Prawn Fritters that is so delicious and tasty. And the recipe is really quite easy to make. The crushed crumbs cornflakes make the prawn so crispy. I have made this several times and this is my children favourite. For the same recipe you can apply to chicken. Serve with hot rice or as an appetizer dip with sour cream or chili sauce.

For This Recipe You Will Need  -

  • 400 grams of medium prawns, shelled and deveined, with tail intact /400 gm udang sederhana besar, buang separuh kulit tinggalkan ekor.
  • 120 grams of plain cornflakes, crushed into tiny pieces  / 120 gm cornflakes kisar halus
Seasoning for prawns:
½ teaspoon of sugar / 1/2 sdt gula
½ teaspoon of grounded white pepper/ 1/2 sdt lada sulah
1 teaspoon of chicken granule / 1 sdt pati ayam
1 teaspoon of corn starch / 1 sdt tepung jagung


Batter ingredients:

6 heaping tablespoons of plain flour / 6 sdb tepung gandum
2 heaping teaspoons of baking powder / 2 sdt baking powder
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil / 1 sdb minyak sayur
150 grams of water / 150 gm air

1 cup of cooking oil (for frying prawns) / 1 cawan minyak untuk menggoreng.

PREPARATION
  1. Marinate prawns with the listed seasoning, for at least 20 minutes.? Perapkan udang dengan bahan perap selama 20 minit.
  2. Mix plain flour and baking powder in a large bowl. Make a well in the centre and pour in vegetable oil. Cover with flour mixture. Gradually add in water and mix well to create smooth batter. Consistency of batter should be smooth with resistance./ Campurkan tepung dan baking powder dalam mangkok. Buangkan lubang ditengah, Masukkan minyak sayur, dan tutuptepung tadi, perlahan-lahan masukkan air dan kacau rata sehingga menjadi adunan yang licin.
  3. Heat wok with oil over high fire. Reduce heat to medium-low fire when oil heated enough. Dip the whole prawn into batter then coat well with crushed cornflakes. Place coated prawn into heated oil and fry till golden brown. Repeat step till all prawns are done. Drain fried prawn fritters on paper towels. Serve with apple yogurt or mayonnaise as dipping sauce, if desired./ Panaskan minyak. Celupkan udang kedalam adunan tepung tadi dan salut dengan cornflakes, goreng hingga gareng dan masak.

Tips: Crush cornflakes with fork or get a blender to do the job, but do not ground the cornflakes. Crush till tiny pieces will do, it makes the fritters apprear more delicate looking. However, if preferred crunchier and fuller biting on the crust, remain cornflakes in original whole pieces (but be reminded that it will be more difficult to coat with large pieces).

Resipi ini merupakan resipi udang celup tepung yang disalut dengan cornflakes. Membuatnya mudah dan sedap dihidang bersama nasi panas atau dicicah bersama sos masam atau cili sos. Cornflake menjadikan udang ini bertambah ranggup dan harum. Untuk resipi yang sama juga kita boleh buat ayam goreng cornflakes.
