SIMPLE CHOCOLATE CAKE


This is Tyca second recipe, she love chocolate and wants me to teach her to do the Moist Chocolate cake. I told her as a beginner it's best that she starts with the simple basic chocolate cake.

I got this recipe from my late sister, she is another great cook, she left me a her cookbook and I am now exploring the best that I knew of her favorites.

This chocolate cake is really simple, so simple that once you did it you will memorize the recipe, it will stuck in head, there' no need second reference, trust me!!!.

This is not one of those, multi-layered, fancy-pants chocolate cakes. I'm not much good with those. This is a simple, relatively unassuming chocolate cake. An everyday chocolate cake that you might not make everyday. It is chocolate-packed, moist, not-too-complicated and delicious.

As for the furnishing instead of ganache I taught Tyca the basic chocolate frosting.


INGREDIENTS
4 eggs / 4 biji telur
1 butter (250 gm) / 1 ketul mentega (250 gm)
1 cup caster sugar /  1 cawan gula halus
2 cups flour / 2 cawan tepung
1 cup water / 1 cawan air
1/2 cup cocoa powder / 1/2 cawan serbuk koko
1 tsp baking powder / 1 sdt serbuk baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda / 1/2 sdt serbuk soda
pinch of salts / secubit garam

STEP BY STEP PREPARATIONS


First sieve the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder,soda and salt into a large bowl. / Dalam mangkuk ayakkan tepung baking powder, soda dan garam

Combine water, cocoa powder and vanilla in a bowl/cup. Leave to cool in freeze for 10 minutes / Satukan air, koko dan vailla, kacau rata dan sejukkan dalam freezer selama 10 minit.



In a separate medium bowl beat together the melted butter and sugar till light and fluffy / Dalam mangkuk lain pukul mentega dan gula sehingga putih dan gebu.

Add in egg one at a time till complete / Masukkan telur sebiji dan sebiji sehingga habis


 

Lower the speed and slowly at in the flour until complete / Perlahankan kelajuan, perlahan-lahan masukkan tepung sedikit demi sedikit sehingga habis.

Add the chocolate and stir until everything comes together and is no longer dusty looking - avoid over-mixing./.Masukkan adunan cokolat danh kacau rata sehingga semua bahan mesra. Jangan terlebih kacau


Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 30 - 40 minutes at 350 F. / Tuangkan kedalam loyang pembakar dan bakar pada suhu 350 F.

This is a cake I like slightly under-baked, so I pull it out when the center is still a bit under cooked - the toothpick doesn't quite come out clean when testing. If you are going to use it for a layer cake - then bake it all the way (clean toothpick). Remove from oven and allow to cool (absolutely completely) in pan before frosting (frosting recipe below)./ Guna pencukil gigi untuk pastikan ia benar-benar masak. Angkat dan sejukkan.


Chocolate Whipped Cream Frosting

2 ounces bittersweet chocolate (chopped)
1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 cup heavy cream, whipped to stiff peaks
To make the frosting melt the chocolate in a double-boiler, or in a bowl placed over a pan of boiling water. In a medium bowl beat the butter until smooth and fluffy. Beat in the maple syrup. Then add the melted chocolate. Stir until silky smooth - any flecks of butter should be melted. Pour the chocolate mixture over the whipped cream and fold the chocolate into the cream. Keep going until the chocolate is well incorporated. Use an offset spatula to frost the completely cooled cake. If the cake is at all warm, the frosting will weep and melt. It still tastes good, but isn't what you're after.

N3 ini sepatutnya saya masukkan semalam tetapi saya agak sibuk sedikit. Semalam pun sampai rumah dah hambir 10 malam, memang letih betul. Pagi ni pula sibuk siapkan cermin mata Tyca nilah baru ada masa nak masukkan N3.  Sebenar Chocolate Cake ini adalah resipi kedua Tyca dalam Projek Memasaknya. Saya pilihkan resipi yang mudah....mudah membuat dan mudah mengingat. Memang mudah mengikut, kalau sudah buat kali pertama, kali kedua tak yahlah nak buka buku lagi, semua dengan mudah termaktub dalam minda. Untuk icingnya pun saya gunakan yang mudah, chocolate frosting menggunakan butter, gula, whip cream dan maple sirap.

Bagi baru nak memula baking saya rasa this is the best resipi. Resipi ini adalah resipi dari arwah kakak saya. Arwah ni memang tere bab-bab masak, tetapi alhamdullilahlah dia ada meninggalkan saya buku-buku resipinya yang mana saya sedang metelaah dan mencuba. Bagi anda jika mempunyai anda dara sunti yang baru nak berjinak-jinak di dapur dan nak test baking... cuba resipi ini... saya jamin ianya tidak mengecewakan anda.
