GOOD MORNING MALAYSIA - BREAKFAST MENU - THE CLASSIC AMERICAN POPOVERS




Good Morning and Asalamualaikum, today I introduced something new to my children - the classic American Popovers!!!  Some of you may be familiar with popovers some may not and according to Wikipedia :-

A popover is a light, hollow roll made from an egg batter similar to that used in making Yorkshire pudding. The name "popover" comes from the fact that the batter swells or "pops" over the top of the muffin tin while baking. They can also be baked in individual custard cups.

I run into the recipe while blogging. Saw this in girlwhobakes,com the popovers looked so tempting that I decided to give a try. This is the first time I baked and tasted the popovers.

Ideally the popovers should be baked using the popovers pan, but I made mine  by using the muffin pan. The perfect popovers should be high, crusty outside and hollow inside.

I never eat or test popover in my life so I can't judge the original texture or flavor of this recipe, however when I "google" around I saw most popovers risen high mine looked more like muffin. Now that I knew the perfect popovers descriptions I will have to try again. Hopefully the  next time around I will get the high rise popovers. Anyway I love this delectable bread with butter and jam. You can try this recipe it's fun doing.

adapted from girlwhobakes

1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup low-fat milk
1 large egg
1/2 tablespoon butter, melted
cooking spray
1. combine flour & salt in a small bowl, stirring with a whisk.

2. combine milk & eggs in a medium bowl, stirring with a whisk until well blended. let mixture stand for 30 minutes.

3. while you're waiting for your wet ingredients to come to room temperature, preheat your oven to 425°f and coat a half-dozen muffin tin with cooking spray.

4. after 30 minutes, gradually add flour mixture to egg minutes and combine well with a whisk. stir in melted butter.

5. place pan in the oven for 5 minutes, then divide the batter evenly among prepared and heated pan and bake for 35 minutes - 10 minutes at 425°f and the last 25 minutes at 375°f - or until golden brown and popped!

Selamat Pagi Malaysia dan Asalamualaikun semua, menu pagi ini agak menarik sekali, Saya membuat sesuatu yang belum pernah saya rasa dan belum pernah saya buat tetapi terlalu banyak mendengar dan melihatnya di majalah-majalah iaitu POPOVERS!!! Sempoi kan namanya aje sudah cukup menjadikan kita tertanya-tanya apa yang POP nya. Resipi ini sebenarnya jatuh dalam kategori roti dan menjadi sajian sarapan pagi yang digemari di American, Dimakan panas-panas bersama jam dan butter. Roti ini mendapat namanya dari bunyi pop yang dikeluarkan ketika membakar ( meletup-letup gitu)

Menarik tentang resipi ialah roti ini dibakar menggunakan acuan khas dan roti ini akan naik tinggi, berkerak di luar dan lembut di dalam. Inilah kali pertama saya merasa dan mencubanya dan saya sendiri tidak begitu tahu nak memberi komen kerana tidak pernah merasanya sebelum ini, 

Oleh kerana tidak mempunyai acuan khas popovers saya hanya gunakan acuan muffin. Rasanya saya perlu membuat sekali lagi kerana setelah dilihat pada gambar-gambar di google popover saya tidak nampak rupa popover. Apa pun saya puas hati kerana saya sukakan rasanya dan anak-anak pun suka, Insyallah akan cuba lagi bagi mendapatkan hasil yang lebih baik

Salam Mak Qis, saya tak ada jawapanya, saya tunggu jugalah sampai tak bergerak nak tenguk dia pop tapi haram. Tolak tepi ya saya punya cubaan, kerana tak berapa menjadi, popover yang perfect dia tinggi, berkerak diluar dan dalamnya berserawang. Yang saya buat nampak macam muffin aje. Suka juga kalau ada yang nak cuba nak tenguk resultnya macam mana.
