BUBUR MALAYSIA / MALAYSIA SWEET PORRIDGE

I made this for tea yesterday. Reason was the idea suddenly pop out. May be we were talking so much about our 54th year independence and Malaysia day. This sweet treats was my family favorite but my children haven't tasted it yet. Just in conjunction with the Malaysia day and the name of this sweet treat was Bubur Malaysia, I just made one batch of it. By the name of the dessert we can roughly guess that it was the reflection of the multi-racial society in Malaysia. All the colors in this sweet was a
metaphor representing all the races in Malaysia.  I hope I'm right.

The sweet treats are just like "bubur cha-cha" but was made of sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes were boiled, mashed and roll up as a small marbles, blanched in hot boiling water, drained and further cooked in creamy coconut milk. You can have it hot or chill. I love to chill it overnight.. This scrumptious dessert was great either way. Try this you will definitely love it!!!

INGREDIENTS
500 g sweet potatoes - boiled, peeled and mashed / 500 g keledek, kopek rebus dan lecek
1 cup flour / 1 cawan tepung
3 cups thick coconut milk / 3 cawan santan pekat
1 cup water / 1 cawan air
1 cup sugar / 1 cawan gula
3 screwpine leaves / 3 helai daun pandan
coloring of your choices / warna pilihan anda
1/2 tsp salts /. 1 sdt garam

  1. Mashed potatoes and add in flour to form soft dough./ Lecek keledek dan masukkan tepung menjadikan satu doh lembut.
  2. Divide into 4 and color base on your preference / Bahagi doh kepada 4 bahagian dan warnakan mengikut pilihan anda.
  3. Roll up into small balls / Bentukkan doh sebesar sebiji guli.
  4. Heat up water in a pot and blanched the potatoes. Remove and put in cold water for 5 minutes and drained. / Panaskan air sehingga mendidih. Masukkan bebola keledek tadi. Masak seperti membuat onde-onde. Angkat dan rendam dalam air sejuk selama 5 minit. Angkat dan toskan
  5. In another pot, heat up coconut milk, sugar, water saltsand screwpine till bubbles. Add in the cooked potatoes balls/Dalam periuk yang lain masak santan, air, gula, garam dan daun pandan sehingga mendidih. Masukkan keledek yang direbus tadi biar mendidih seketika. Angkat dan hidang.

Bubur Malaysia, pencuci mulut kegemaran keluarga.
