APAM MEKAR SEGAR / BLOSSOM STEAM CAKE

Justin Bieber is in KL..!!!!! wow, so do I. I'm taking my children to the concert tonite, so today there's no breakfast menu. We have our breakfast in Concorde KL and all set for the concert tonite..No....no.... not me I'm too old for a 17 years old lass concert, it's the girls, they have been nagging for their belated birthday present so I packaged them all to JUSTIN BIEBER concert. We arrived in KL last night and most likelihood will be here until the weekend, tomorrow is a Good Friday so another public holiday for Perak, so just right timing with the concert. 

I made this sometimes ago, since there be no cooking for the next three days, I am posting what I had made over the last couple of weeks. This Apam Mekar is one of it. I ran this recipe from Kak Ita - Kuih Traditional Era Baru. The Apam look's so cute so I made a try. For those of you who had have bad experience in getting your Apam to smile widely try this recipe, it wont fails you. Trust me!! I'm who never get my Apam to smile but this time around I am so...so....happy....look at it, it really smile...OMG or may be because of BIEBER is in town. No joke try this recipe from Kak Ita.

 INGREDIENTS
90 gm screwpine jus / 90 gm jus pandan
240 gm sugar / 240 gm gula
300 gm flour / 300 gm tepung gandum
150 ml fresh milk / 150 ml susu segar
2 eggs / 2 biji telur - Grade A
1 tbsp ovelette / 1 sdb ovelet
1 sdt double action baking powder/ 1 sdt daouble action baking powder
coloring of your choice / warna pilihan anda
Kaya and sifficient cupcakes papers / serikaya dan acuan kertas secukupnya
PREPARATIONS.

  1. Combine all ingredients and whisk till fluffy / Campurkan semua bahan dan putar sehingga gebu dan pekat
  2. Spoon mixture in cupcakes tray. / Masukkan sunan ke dalam acuan kertas.
  3. Pipe kaya in the middle of the mixture using pipping bag / Paipkan adunan ditengah-tengah kuih dengan menggunakan beg pipping.
  4. Steam for 5 minutes / Kukus selama 5 minit.
  5. Make sure your steamer is really HOT if you want to have a BIG SMILE. Pastikan kukusan anda betul-betul panas jika anda nakkan APAM yang senyum lebar
 
.* To have colorful Apam, omit the pandan juice and replaced it with coconut milk, for the same amount / Untuk dapatkan Apam warna warni, gantikan jus pandan dengan santan

Apam Mekar Segar ini saya dapat resipinya dari buku masak Kak Ita - Kuih Traditional Era Baru. Rasa Apam ini lebih kurang rasa Apam Cantik Manis tapi ia tidak menggunakan air berkabonate. Kepada sesiapa yang selalu kecewa dengan apam yang tidak mahu merkah cuba resipi, ia tidak mengecewakan anda. Saya memang terperangjat bila buka kukusan bukan lebar lagi senyumanya. Menariknya resipi ini serikaya di paipkan ke dalam apam dan serikaya akan kelihatan meleleh antara rekahan apam ini. Jika anda ingin mencuba saya cadangkan kurangkan gula mungkin guna dalam sekitar 200 gm cukup sebab manis kaya akan menyebabkan Apam ini bertambah manis, so kurangkan gula!!!!.
