KUIH LAPIS I

Kuih Lapis is a steam layer kuih make of rice.. Malaysian favorite especially among the Baba Nyonya and the Malay. The Nyonya version is more chewy as compared to the Malay Kuih Lapis. It all depends on one preference. As for this kuih I prefer the less chewy. 


For a  while I have been trying to get the recipe but have less confident to try until I read the testimonial made by our fellow bloggers on Tulip77 recipes. Seem that many have tried and had shared their success story. Don't want to be left behind, I tried Tulip 77 recipe, Alhamdulillah it turned out perfect. The recipe is easy to follow and the result is amazing.

Kuih Lapis/ Steam Layer Kuih

INGREDIENTS
1 cup rice flour/ 1 cawan tepung beras
1/2 cup wheat flour/ 1/2 cawan tepung gandum
3/4 cup sugar/ 3/4 cawan gula
2 packet santan powder/ 2 paket serbuk santan
1 tsp salt/ 1 sdt garam
1 tsp oil/ 1 sdt minyak
4 cups water/ 4 cawan air
flavour and color of choice/ perasa dan warna pilihan.
METHOD


Blend all ingredients except the flavoring and color with 2 cups of water until mixture mix well. Heat up the steamer/Dalam blender, masu kkan gula,santan,tepung beras,tepung gandum,minyak,garam dan 2 cawan air. Blend hingga semua bahan bersatu & tak berketul. Panaskan air dalam kukusan.

Pour mixture into mixing bowl and add another 2 cups of water, mix well /Keluarkan adunan dari blender & isi dalam bekas. Tambah lagi 2 cawan air,kacau rata.

Divide mixture into your favorite color. I used 3 color, red, yellow and green. Bahagikan adunan kepada 3 bahagian. Letakkan satu bahagian pewarna kuning & satu lagi dgn pewarna hijau dan 1 warna merah.

Grease pan with oil or cling plastic. Steam the first layer 2 cups for 5 minutes./ Utk memudahkan kuih ni dikeluarkan, sapu loyang dgn sedikit minyak dan letak plastik cling. Masukkan 2 cwn adunan warna kuning & kukus selama 5 minit.

After 5 minutes add in second layer, each layer the measurement is 1 cup, repeat the process until finish. /Lepas 5minit,masukkan pula 1 cawan adunan warna hijau dan kukus selama 2minit. Kemudian selang seli warna hijau dan kuning hingga adunan habis.

Steam the last layer for 20 minutes. Off the heat and remove from steamer. leave to cool before cutting / Lapis yg terakhir warna hijau dikukus selama 20minit. Bila dah masak alih keluar dari kukusan dan tunggu hingga kuih ni sejuk.

Sudah lama berhajat nak buat kuih lapis ini, tetapi takut kerana sebelum ini selalu gagal. Tapi Alhamdulillah dalam saya mencari-cari resipi yang sesuai saya terpanggil dengan testimoni yang dibuat oleh teman-teman blogger mengenai resipi yang diberikan oleh Tulip 77. Rata-rata teman Blogger memuji resipi dan berpuas hati dengan hasilnya. Tidak mahu ketinggalan saya mencuba dan ternyata memang hebat resipi ini. Saya berpuasa hati dan anak-anak pun gemar rasanya.
