BUTTER RICE AND CHICKEN THIGH WITH ONION GRAVY


This is a simple menu when I am not in the mood to cook dinner. One dish meal that combine simple ingredients into one complete meal without require extra work. I found this recipe from Martha Stewart Web. It's yummy and easy to prepare. Hope you enjoy savouring as well as preparing them. 

INGREDIENTS FOR BUTTER RICE

250 gm rice / 250 gm beras - lebih kurang 3 cawan
1 tsp cumin seeds / 1 sdt jintan manis
3 tbsp butter / 3 sdb mentega
1 strand coriander leaves / 1 tangkai daun ketumar
salts to taste / garam secukup rasa

PREPARATION
  1. Boil water in a pan to cook rice. / Jerang air dalam periuk nasi
  2. Add chopped coriander leaves in that. Also add cumin seeds, salt and butter to that. / Masukkan daun ketumbar dan jintan manis, garam dan mentega.
  3. Add rice in boiling water and cook till done. / Bila mendidih masukkan beras.
  4. Lower the heat until rice are done / Kecilkan api sehingga nasi masak.

INGREDIENTS FOR CHICKEN THIGH WITH GARLIC SAUCE.
  • 6  bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs / 6 keping peha ayam
  • Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper/ Garam dan lada sulah
  • 3 medium onion / 3 biji bawang besar
  • 2 lemons / 2 biji lemon
  • 2 tbsp butter melted / 2 sdb mentega dicairkan
  • 2 tbsp all purpose flour / 2 sdb tepung serba guna
  • 2 cups chicken stock / 2 cawan pati ayam
  • PREPARATION

  1. Heat oven to 500 degrees. Rinse chicken, and pat dry. Season with salts and pepper. Slice onions crosswise into 1/2 incg-thick rings. Place in a single layer in the roasting pan. Slice lemon into 1/4 inch-thick rings and place on top of onions. Brush with melted butter, and cook, basting occasionally, until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees, 50 minutes to 1 hour. Cover with foil if skin gets too brown. Transfer chicken to platter or cutting board to rest while making gravy./ Panaskan oven 500 degree. Bersihkan peha ayam dan keringkan. Lumurkan dengan garam dan lada sulah. Hiris bawang besar membulat. Susun dilapisan bawah dulang pembakar. Begitu juga dengan lemon hiris bulat dan letakkan di atas bawang tadi. Letakkan peha ayam tadi dan lumurkan dengan mentega cair. Masak ayam selama 1 jam. Boleh tutup ayam dengan aluminium foil jika ayam nampak terbakar atau hitam.
  2. Place pan with onions and drippings over medium heat. Sprinkle with flour, and stir constantly until well combined. Add chicken stock, and cook, stirring occasionally, until gravy thickens, about 3 minutes. Strain, season with salt and pepper, and serve over chicken Butter rice, potatoes, carrot and blanched broccoli./ Panaskan kuali masukkan bawang yang dipanggang bersama ayam tadi bersama dengan air leleh panggang tadi, masukkan tepung dan kacau sebati. Masukkan stok ayam dan kacau sehingga kuah pekat, lebih kurang 3 minit. Masukkan garam secukup rasa. Hidangkan ayam bersama Butter Rice, karot, kentang bakar dan broccoli celur.

Salam Izah, hem kali ni belajar dengan orang putih, pakai cat dengan butter. Sedap tapi tak leh makan selalu, kena cicah dengan sambal baru boleh jalan kut. Budak-budak suka la macam ni.
