MOTHER'S DAY AFTERNOON TEA WITH PATYSKITCHEN/ HIGH TEA HARI IBU BERSAMA PATYSKITCHEN

Mother's Day should be everyday. Celebrating the women who raise children is not limited to just the women who give birth. Any woman who takes the time to nurture and oversee the well being and development of another, often sacrificing their own needs and dreams, deserves distinctive recognition. We would not be who we are without these wonderful people. - Ellen Easton

I strongly agreed with Ellen, however the recognition of Mother's Day as an annual event make it more interesting...people around the globe celebrate this special occasion  on various days commonly in March, April, or May with various activities with their MOM. For me it is a great idea to set aside days that allow us to celebrate our parents, to cherish, to treat and to thank them for all that they have done for us – if not on a daily basis then at least on a day like today.

I am an orphan ..so mother's day is more of a fun time I celebrate with my children and close friends. For Mother’s Day this year, as years before I throw a high tea for the family and friends...enjoy a sunny afternoon with High Tea. It is very simple to have a buffet tea a home. A buffet tea needn’t be expensive, nor time consuming to prepare. Well not necessary with vintage ......I didn't have any but happened to have a set of China Violet Tea Set.

I was happy that everything went out great today. The High Tea theme all decked out in  violet and florals.  Mom all dressed in Violet and not only that we have violet cake, violet cuppa, and all the set up were violet. I also prepared a set of Violet door gift consist of baby teddy with violet ribbon, lavender flower pot and violet steam cuppa as a take away for guest.  Over all it was fun and we really had a great time.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the great moms out there!

CONVERTING RECIPES TO METRIC - HOW MUCH IS 2/3 CUP OF MILK ????

How much is 2/3 cup of milk - picture
courtesy from google

I wanted to make cupcake where the recipe calls for 2/3 cup of milk. I was stuck  there. I don't really know how much is 2/3 cup of milk. The best part of it I used tea cups for my baking and cooking, I know 3/4, 1/2 and 1/4, but I have no idea what is 2/3 cup. So the solutions to my problem is to refer to the net and I found the following information handy and helps a lot. I printed and laminated the table and placed it on my fridge make it more handy fo me to refer. One thing for sure learning how to measure ingredients is essential when you are learning how to cook. The correct balance of ingredients is what makes food taste good. If you want a PERFECT results for your baking or cooking NEVER...EVER ASSUME, do a little work by measuring it in metric. I'm sharing with you here some important tips that I found in the internet that help me a lot.

The three basic tools used to measure ingredients in cooking are:Measuring spoons
  • Dry measuring cups
  • Liquid measuring cups
  • A basic set of measuring spoons come with 5 spoons:
  • 1/8 teaspoon
  • ¼ teaspoon
  • ½ teaspoon
  • 1 teaspoon
  • 1 Tablespoon
Even though the words are the same, standard measuring spoons are *not* the same as the teaspoons and tablespoons in the drawer that you use to eat with.It is very important to be exact when measuring things like baking powder and baking soda. (These are leavening agents which means they make things rise.) Always even off the top of the measuring spoon with the straight edge of a knife.

Dry Measuring Cup

Dry measuring cups are usually made of metal or plastic and have an even rim. You dip the cup into the dry ingredients and level off with the straight edge of a knife.

(Again, don’t confuse the word “cup in a recipe with cups that are used for drinking.)

Liquid Measuring Cups

When you’re measuring liquids, be sure to look on the outside, not the inside of the cup. Always look at eye level, but don’t hold the cup up to your eye level. I guarantee you will not be able to hold it steady or level and your measuring will be off.

Put the cup on a flat surface, bend down and look at the outside of the cup to get an accurate measurement
Weights can be converted with the following table. Note that the ounces referred to in this table are not the same as fluid ounces.
