MASHED POTATOES AND GRAVY / KENTANG PUTAR DAN SOSNYA


Here is the basic and easy to make mashed potato recipe. You can add in seasoning of your choice. The best is to use russet or Yukon Gold potatoes.



Mashed Potato and Mashed Potato Gravy

1 1/2 lbs yukon gold potatoes, peeled and quartered length-wise
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 Tbsp heavy cream
2 Tbsp butter
1 Tbsp milk
Salt and Pepper
A potato masher
METHOD
1 Put potatoes into a saucepan. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt. Add water until potatoes are covered. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer, covered, 15-20 minutes, or until done - a fork can easily be poked through them.
2 Warm cream and melt butter, together, either in microwave or in a pan on the stove. Drain water from potatoes. Put hot potatoes into a bowl. Add cream and melted butter. Use potato masher to mash potatoes until well mashed. Use a strong spoon to beat further, adding milk to achieve the consistency you desire. (Do not over-beat or your potatoes will get gluey.) Salt and pepper to taste.

 MASHED POTATO GRAVY

1 1/2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp flour
50g celery, chopped
50g big onion, chopped
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp thyme
1/2 tsp basil
1/8 tsp black pepper
1/8 tsp pepper
1/8 tsp black soya sauce for colour
1 1/2 cups water
Method

Heat butter till it melts, add in the flour and stir well over low heat.
Add in the water gradually and bring to a boil. Mix in the rest of the ingredients and simmer until gravy is thick.
Use gravy as a topping for your mashed potatoes.

Selalunya kita makan di KFC aje..tetapi sebenarnya membuatnya cukup mudah. Untuk mendapat hasil yang memuaskan gunakan kentang yang berkualiti biasanya russet potato atau pun Yukon gold...yang lain bergantung kepada citarasa masing-masing sama untuk dimasukkan perisanya. Disini juga saya tunjukkan cara membuat sosnya.

Saya selalu guna Russet, Yukon Gold jarang ada. Tapi memang fav ni...

sedapnya kak paty..saya suka betul buat mashed potato ni sekarang..sebenarnya tak susah mana pun...tinggal malas ngan rajin je...hehehe

Salam rosmawati..kalau na letak whip cream pun boleh tapi rasanya manis sedikit..sebaiknya letak heavy cream..atau cooking cream..dan kalau tak ada semua tu susu segar pun...boleh..akak kadang2 letak susu segar aje.
