I believe the idea of this curry chicken rice came Johor Briyani. Rice is cooked with curry powder and chicken in a pot. The concepts and style of cooking were the same except this one used curry powder instead of briyani powder, In fact the was almost simlar except that briyani powder is more powerful and more fragrant. So I used the briyani gam technique, I added hard boiled eggs and potatoes. Dug them in the rice. Very delicious....serve with any sort of curry. I made some shrimps curry and cucumber salsa. Perfect combination with some "pappadom. It would be great if you can have some chutney. I missed that..ouldn't any at the time you want it. Lovely for lunch or dinner or event of simple ceremony at home.
Nasi Kari Ayam

5 cups basmathi rice
3 star anise
5 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
2 cardamon
1 green onion leaf cut into 1"
4 cups water
1 cup evaporated milk (you can subsitute with coconut milk if you like)
2 strig curry lelaves
1 blade pandan leaf
1 onion thinly sliced
1 ladle ghee oil
1/2 tsp chicken cube
1 whole chicken cut into 12 pieces
Optional
hard boiled eggs
potato boiled
Ingredients to be Blended/Pounded
1 packet meat curry powder - I used Baba's
9 shallots
5 cloves garlic
2" ginger
Blend all ingredient to form fine paste and mi with curry powder. Just add 1/2 cup or water in it.
Saute slice onion till soft and fragrant
Add star anise, cloves, cardamon and cinnamon stick.
Add blended ingredients.Add curry leaves and pandan leaf. Cook until fragrant.
Cook for another 5 minutes. Add in chicken and allow to cook until chicken release water.
Add basmathi rice and water , salts 1/2 tsp of chicken cube and chopped coriander and green onions
Add evaporated milk.
Simmer on low cover until rice is cooked.
Jalan-jalan BW baru-baru ternampak ni di dapur Izah- IML...kata Izah nasi ini sedap,,jadi saya teringin hendak mencubanya..nampak mudah dan bahan yang diperlukan sentiasa ada dalam stok jadi saya beri Green Light nak cuba. Sedap Nasi ini kalau makan ramai-ramai jadi saya tunggu korumnya cukup....ha..ha...cuti maulidur dan Taipusam baru-baru ini semua anak-anak balik jadi saya masaklah se kilo.
Alkisahnya Nasi Kari Ayam ini sebenarnya tidak jauh bezanya dengan nasi-nasi tumis lain seperti Nasi Daging, Nasi Briyani, Nasi Dhal...dan nasi-nasi lain, yang dinamakan nasi kari ayam...sebab rempah yang digunakan untuk menumis nasi ini ialah rempah kari dan ayam pula dimasukkan sekali dalam kari maka jadilah dia nasi kari ayam. Secaram amnya ianya persis nasi tumis lain...dan lebih mirip pada nasi briyani gam dimana ayam ditanam sekali dengan nasi. Bolehlah dikatakan satu variasi nasi tumis. Biasa ya untuk meriahkan nasi ini saya masukkan sedikit telur rebus dan kentang (yang ini optional) kalau suka boleh masukkan. Saya olahkan sedikit daripada resipi asal untuk mengikut kesesuaian saya dan keluarga. Nasi ini sedap jika disediakan pappadom, acar buah, acar timun mahupun sedikit sambal pudina. Lebih menarik jika disediakan kuah dhal..jika tidak ianya agak kering. Saya sediakan Kari Udang untuk dimakankan bersama Nasi Kari Ayam ini. Memang sedap.
