BUBUR CANDIL


This sweet dessert is popular in Malaysia and Indonesia especially during fasting month. Sweet and creamy this dessert is made of glutinous rice flour deep in coconut milk  and is perfect as tea menu.

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • 1/3 cup lukewarm water
  • 1/2 tsp pandan paste
  • 3/4 cup white sugar / brown sugar
  • 2 cup coconut milk
  • pinch of salt
Method:
  1. Bind together flour with warm water into a smooth dough. It should be easily shaped, not crumbly and not sticky. Adjust with water / flour.
  2. Add pandan paste to the dough and knead till colour is even.
  3. Pinch small balls of dough.
  4. Drop the balls into a pot of boiling water and give it a few stirs during cooking. When dough is cooked, it will rise to the surface (~3-5min).
  5. Meanwhile place the coconut milk in a deep dish and mix in sugar, screwpine leave and a pinch of salt.
  6. Scoop the cooked dough into the coconut and swirl around to coat.

Bubur Candil ini cukup digemari oleh orang-orang Malaysia dan Indonesia. Paling popular ketika bulan Ramadan, memang menjadi juadah favorite buka puasa. Diperbuat daripada tepung pulut rasanya cukup lemak dan sedap. Boleh juga dibuat beraneka warna mengikut citarasa masing-masing.
