BLUEBERRY CREPES

Sunday comes again....so you still undecided what to prepare for breakfast today. Let me suggest Crepes, yeh...something different from the normal and ordinary pancake. I did this blueberry crepes yesterday. It was my first attempt. Not bad the children loves this especially when you topped it with blueberry jam and maple syrup. I believe it would be much marvelous with some vanilla ice cream.
I did some finding on this dish and just like to share with you on information that I gathered on the origin of this fantastic dish. Here's the explanation from Wikipedia. Also known as French Pancake, crepes are:-

A crêpe is a type of very thin, cooked pancake usually made from wheat flour. The word, like the pancake itself,

is of French origin, deriving from the Latin crispa, meaning "curled." While crêpes originate from Brittany, a region in the northwest of France, their consumption is nowadays widespread in France and is considered the national dish. In Brittany, crêpes are traditionally served with cider. Crêpes often have a fruit filling of syrup, mixed berries, fresh fruit or lemon cream.

Crêpes are made by pouring a thin liquid batter onto a hot frying pan or flat circular hot plate, often with a trace of butter or oil on the pan's surface. The batter is spread evenly over the cooking surface of the pan or plate either by tilting the pan or by distributing the batter with an offset spatula.

Common fillings for meal crêpes include: cheese, asparagus, ham, spinach, eggs, ratatouille, mushrooms, artichoke (in certain regions), and various meat products.

When they are sweet, they can be a dessert. They can be filled with various other sweet items: jam, melted chocolate, dairy, ice cream, Nutella (a chocolate and hazelnut paste), bananas, berries, nuts, poppyseeds, cinnamon etc. Popular sweet toppings include sugar (granulated or powdered), maple syrup, lemon juice, whipped cream, fruit spreads, sliced soft fruits, etc.
It resemblance our owned  Kuih Dadar with coconut fillings. For those who wish to give a try here's the recipes. You will need the following ingredients:
  • 1 cup plain flour / 1 cawan tepung
  • 3 eggs / 3 biji telur
  • 1 tablespoon sugar / 1 sdb gula
  • 2 cups milk / 2 cawan susu segar
  • optional pinch salt / secubit garam
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted / 2 sdb mentega cair
  • icing sugar and blueberry to serve /blueberry dan gula icing
  • oil for frying/Minyak untuk mengeser.
To make the French pancakes, add the milk, egg and then the flour and sugar and blend using an electric blender or food processor. Then stir in the melted butter./ Satukan susu, telur, tepung dan gula dalam belnder.
Or if a blender is not available, sift the flour, sugar and salt into a bowl. Add the eggs and beat well. Then add the milk gradually and beat to make a smooth thin batter. Then stir in the melted butter./Blend semua dan masukkan mentega cair.
Heat a little oil in a large frying pan until hot. Pour or scoop the batter into the pan, using approximately 2 tablespoons for each crepe. Tip and rotate pan to spread batter as thinly as possible. Brown on both sides and serve hot./ Panaskan minyak dan sendukkan adunan ke dalam kuali, lenggangkan seperti membuat kuih dadar
Serve with any fruit / chocolate sauce / ice cream. Dust with icing sugar to finish.
