DRINKS FOR THE NEW YEAR - A HEALTHY TOSS TO A NEW YEAR

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year. This is my first entry for 2011, I was away on my outstation assignment and  missed my 1.1.11 entry. Anyhow I'm taking the chance of 11.1.11 as my first entry. Though a bit late, I am confident that I will not run far from my 2011 resolutions target of 1 entry each day. I believe my weekend cooking will take care of the differences.


So...moving on.  I'm backed in the kitchen cooking as usual and will be looking for good, easy meals for a few more days.  For a start let's toss for the New Year with fresh and healthy drinks. I used many different fruits and I hope you enjoy seeing the colourful " fruit-ful concoctions drinks."

TROPICAL PUNCH



Tropical Fruit Punch

I've made this cocktai for guests (and myself!) numerous times, and everyone's loved it. It's refreshing and a pleasant combination of orange, lemon and pineapple. The basic recipe calls for equal parts orange and pineapple juice, lemon and sparkling drinks. But everyone has strong opinions about the particular flavorings and garnishes. For the best results, use fresh orange and lemon / Minuman yang menyegarkan sesuai untuk majlis koktail. 

INGREDIENTS
1  cup  sparkling drinks / 1 cawan air sparkling
1  cup  fresh orange juice (about 2 oranges) / 1 cawan jus oren
1  cup  pineapple juice / 1 cawan jus nenas
1  cup  lemon juice / 1 cawan jus lemon
2  tablespoons  sugar / 2 sdb gula
orange, lemon or pineapple for garnishing / hirisan oren,lemon/nenas 

  • PREPARATION

    Combine first 5 ingredients in a pitcher. Serve over ice. Garnish each serving with 1 orange slice/lemon/pineapple slice. Sprinkle with nutmeg, if desired./ Campurkan semua bahan kedalam bekas. Hidang bersama ais berserta hirisan oren/lemon ataupun nenas.

    • HONEYLEMONADE


This classic all time favourite calls for only three ingredients, but comes with a list of options to suit your guests' tastes. Shaken or stirred? On the rocks? With a twist? You decide./ Minuman klasik yang menggunakan tiga bahan sahaja. boleh dibuat secara kacau, kocok ataupun kocok bersama ais mengikut citarasa masing. 
INGREDIENTS

  • 3  cups  fresh lemon juice / 3 cawan jus lemon


  • 2 cups honey / 2 cawan madu.


  • 12 cups water. / 12  cawan air

lemon slices for garnishing / hirisanlemon 
  • PREPARATION

LEMONGRASS GINGER ICED TEA



This refreshing drink gets most of its flavor from lemongrass and ginger. Garnish this tea beverage with lemongrass and ginger. Delicious and unique, this punch recipe gives ordinary tea a little zing. Simply boil jasmine tea with lemongrass and ginger to allow the flavors to blend. Chill overnight before serving.

INGREDIENTS
  • 5 jasmine tea bags /5 uncang teh melur
  • 1/2  cup  sugar / 1/2 cawan gula
  • 1 lemon grass / 1 batang serai
  • 3 tbsp ginger slices / 3 sdb hirisan halia

  • PREPARATION
Combine 5 cups water and sugar in a heavy saucepan; bring to a boil. Cook until sugar dissolves; remove from heat. Add lemongrass, tea bags, and ginger; steep 5 minutes. Strain mixture through a sieve into a pitcher; discard solids. Add remaining 2 cups water stir well. Chill overnight. Serve over ice, and garnish with lemongrass, if desired. /  Masak 5 cawan air bersama gula hingga gula larut. Masukkan uncang teh, serai yang dititik dan halia. Rendam selama 5 minit. Tambah lagi 2 cawan air. Kacau rata, tapis dan sejukkan semalaman. Hidang dengan ais dan serai jika suka.

GUAVA LIME COOLER




This recipe is wonderful for a hot summer day. I used 7-Up instead of spring water and it made this recipe fantastic./ Minuman yang sesuai untuk menghilangkan dahaga semasa cuaca panas. Saya menggunakan campuran jus jambu batu dan 7-up.

INGREDIENTS
  • 5  cups  guava juice/ 5 cawan jus jambu batu
  • 1  cup  7-up / 1 cawan 7-up
  • Lime slices/guava slices/ hirisan limau nipis atau hirisan jambu batu

  • PREPARTION
Combine guava juice and 7-up in a container . Garnish with lime slices or guava slices, if desired. Serve immediately./Campurkan semua bahan dalam bekas. hidang bersama ais dan hiran limau nipis

AMBARELLA WITH PRESERVED PLUM



Preserved Plum gives this drink its unique flavor. This drink is getting popular among restuarant owner and cafe. A unique blend between Ambarella and preserved plum. The sweet flavor of the ambarella nicely balances the pucker of the plum./ Satu kombinasi yang unik antara buah kedondong dan asam boi. Minuman ini kian popular dikalangan kafe dan restuarant.

INGREDIENTS
  • 10 ambarella/ 10 biji buah kedondong
  • 1/2  cup sugar / 1/2 sugar
  • 12 cups water/ 12 cawan air
  • preserved plum/ asam boi

  • PREPARTION
Combine guava juice and 7-up in a container . Garnish with lime slices or guava slices, if desired. Serve immediately./Campurkan semua bahan dalam bekas. hidang bersama ais dan hiran limau nipis

Salam dan bertemu kembali. Diam tak diam hari ini dah masuk hari yang ke sebelas tahun 2011. Dalam resolusi 2011 saya, saya telah menetapkan bahawa saya akan membuat sekurang-kurangnya satu entry satu hari, malangnya tugasan di luar membuat saya ketinggalan 10 entry. Saya telah terlepas 1.1.11 entry dan untuk itu saya memilih 11.1.11 sebagai entry pertama saya untuk tahun ini. Ini bagi memudahkan saya 'keep track' kesemua entry saya. Sebagai pembuka tirai 2011, saya memilih resipi jus buah-buahan yang saya kira adalah bersesuaian sebagai satu permulaan yang sihat.
