MONDAY BLUES WITH SARDINE SANDWICH AND CAKE MIX WAFFLES

Salam and Good Morning All, ....Monday Blues and the last Monday of the month, I made Sardine Sandwich and Cake Mix Waffles. Good pair ....to start of your Monday Blues. This sardine sandwich always brings me a trip down memory lane. It's a must party dish if you are celebrating birthday party or any simple functions, very popular in the 70's and 80's and started disappearing in the 90"s....the place of sardine has been taken by tuna and these days we have more tuna sandwich then sardine.

One thing interesting about this sandwich.....it's been called as Malaysian Style Sardine Sandwich....it could be this sandwich is popular among the Malaysia. Simple ingredients, simple preparations and very satisfying.

Sardine Sandwich

 

Ingredients:

1 loaf white sandwich bread

1 can sardines in tomato sauce

1 onion, thinly sliced

1 red chili thinly sliced

1 cucumber, finely shredded

A squeeze of lemon juice

Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

1. Mash the sardine with a fork, mix in onion and red chili. Add a squeeze of lemon juice and salt and pepper to taste.
2. Top assemble: Spread butter on a slice of bread, top a tbsp of sardine mixture on the bread and spread it evenly. Add shredded cucumbers. Cover with another slice of bread.

Salam dan Selamat pagi semua, dah 27 hb Februari 2012, Isnin terakhir untuk bulan Februari.....dan untuk menu sarapan pagi ini saya sediakan sandwich sardin dan cake mix waffles. Lama tak makan sandwich sardin ini...baru-baru ini ternampak dalam "foodgawker" keinginan tu datang, ialah sandwich sardin ni semakin dilupakan, kalau dulu sekitar tahun 70 an dan 80 an cukup popular sandwich ini..mana-mana majlis hari jadi atau majlis apa sajelah sandwich tetap akan menjadi sajian..tetapi kini orang lebih menggemari tuna. Saya suka sandwich ini tetapi pastikan anda masukkan perahan liamu supaya tidak terasa hanyir sardin. Disamping itu saya buat cake mix waffles...saje hendak cuba resipi yang menggunakan tepung bancuhan kek yang siap. Gandingan pedas dan manis untuk sajian breakfast Monday Blues.
