GOOD MORNING MALAYSIA - MONDAY BREAKFAST MENU - BEEF BOLOGNESE LASAGNA

We have Italian dish-Beef Bologese Lasagna for breakfast this morning. I prepared the lasagna last night and reheated it this morning.

I made some meat sauce and cream cheese sauce. I used Sam Remo lasagna sheet that do not require pre cooking. Pretty simple but ......

A bit tedious in preparing but I believe it worth comparing of getting a small piece from Pizza Hut, that cost you RM10. I always love lasagna since young. 

My youngest sister made good lasagna. I learned the cream sauce from her. For those who are not familiar with this dish, I just give you a bit of explanation that I extracted from Wikipedia.

Lasagna (plural: Lasagne) is a very wide, flat pasta ( sometimes with wavy edges ). It is typically served in alternating layers with cheese, a sauce, and often other ingredients such as ground beef, sausage, or spinach. Typical of the cuisine of Italy, many regional variations exist. In some areas, especially in the southern regions of Italy, the sauce is likely to be a simple tomato sauce or a ragù, whereas in other areas, particularly in Northern Italy, a Béchamel sauce is used. Lasagna has become a popular dish in other parts of the world, traveling from Europe to the Americas.

I have prepared a STEP BY STEP photos on the MAKING OF LASAGNA for those trying for the first time. The instruction below covered:-
  • The Meat Sauce Process
  • The Cream Cheese Process
  • The Lasagna Laying Process.

INGREDIENTS 
For The Meat Sauce
1 large onion, finely chopped / 1 biji bawang besar dicincang
3 cloves garlic finely chopped / 3 ulas bawang putih dicincang
1 small bottle of pasta sauce, 400g - I used kimball/ 1 bottle sos Kimball
500g minced beef / 500 g daging kisar
1 tbsp olive/vegetable oil / 1 sdb minyak sayur atau minyak zaiton
5 bay leaves (optional) / 5 helai daun salam -bay leaf
nutmeg powder / serbuk buah pala
salts to taste / garam secukup rasa.

For The Cream Sauce
2 cups fresh milk / 2 cawan susu
2 tbsp flour / 2 sdb tepung
About 500g shredded mozzarella cheese
a bit of grated parmesan cheese/shredded ricotta cheese (optional)
For the Lasagna
 - pasta sheets* (I use about 9 sheets for a 3 layered lasagna) , choose the type that don’t require pre cooking
* I use San Remo’s Instant Lasagna – oven ready lasagna sheets

SELAMAT PAGI DAN ASALAMUALAIKUM, semoga semua dalam kesejahteraan. Pagi ini ber- breakfast ala Italy gitu, makan lasagna, dah lama anak sulung saya minta. Saya sediakan lasagna ini semalam dan pagi tadi panaskan, sempat jugalah si Myraz tu bawa bekal ke sekolah. Walau pun ada TEACHER'S DAY celebration tetapi ujian bulanan masih berjalan, selalunya kalau ujian Myraz akan stay back buat sturdy group. So kalau stay back tu biasala mesti bawa bekal.

Pada pengemar cheese lasagna ini adalah salah satu dari favorite mereka selepas Pizza. Saya selalunya kalau teringin sangat, akan makan di Pizza Hut aje lah yang paling dekat dan yakin halal. Mahal juga lasagna ini sepotong adalah dalam RM10, dapat makan seorang aje, terkulat-kulat dibuatnya. Kalau buat sendiri satu rumah boleh makan siap bawa bekal lagi. Bahanya mudah, buatnya simple cuma renyahnya masa nak melapiskan lasagna ini. Untuk resipi ini saya buat cream cheese sekali, tetapi kalau malas, tabur aje cheese tak yah krim cheese pun tak apa, tapi kalau nakkan ummpphhh dan lemak saya cadangkan buatlah krim cheese tu.

Untuk kulit lasagna saya pakai Sam Remo, tetapi pastikan direndam betul-betul dan betul-betul lembut, kalau tidak nanti akan liat sedikit. Baca arahan pada kotak betul. Bagi yang baru nak mencuba saya sertakan juga STEP BY STEP PHOTO, mudah dan senang diikuti. Untuk sos pula kalau yang tidak berminat daging boleh juga buat seafood sos macam di Pizza Hut.
