SAYUR TURI MASAK LEMAK PUTIH


Sayur Turi aka Sayur Geti is rich in Vitamin C. I am not so sure what they call this vegetable in English, it's rare and difficult to find. You hardly find this in Supermarket. My mom used to cook this with mung bean. Very delicious especially with rice and sambal belacan. I happened to get this yesterday from Pasar Tani (Farmer's Market), and was really excited, coz it had been so long I haven't eaten this vegetables. Happened to have leftover sweet potatoes from my Onde-onde I made this Masak Lemak Putih. I wanted to do Masak Lemak Putih my mom version by using boiled mung beans, but running out of mung beans so  I made used of the sweet potatoes instead. Fantastic!!!! I really love this dish. The recipe is really simple. 

INGREDIENTS
1 bunch sayur turi from  shred it from the stem / 1 ikat sayur turi
2 cups coconut milk / 2 cawan santan pekat
2 cups water / 2 cawan air
1 onion slice thinly / 1 biji bawang besar hiris nipis
3 tbsp anchovies soaked / 3 sdb ikan bilis rendam
1 yellow potato cut into small cubes / 1 biji keledek kuning potong dadu
1 orange potato cut into small cubes / 1 biji keledek oren potong dadu
salts to taste / garam secukup rasa

PREPARATION
  1. Bring 2 cups of water to boil. Add in potatoes and boiled until tender./Didihkan air dan rebus keledek sehingga empuk.
  2. Add in sliced onions and anchovies./ Masukkan bawang dan ikan bilis.
  3. Add salts to taste and finally add in coconut milk and sayur turi. Simmer for 10 minutes and ready / Masukkan garam secukup rasa. Akhir sekali masukkan santandan sayur turi. Renehkan selama 10 minit dan angkat.

Sayur turi aka sayur geti banyak mengingatkan saya pada arwah umi, suka betul kalau arwah masak lemak putih sayur ini  dicampurkan dengan kacang hijau rebus, wee.... cukup sedap, makan pula dengan apa-apa lauk yang bersambal memang sedap. Tapi sayangnya bukan senang nak dapat sayur ini. Saya terjumpa sayur ini di Pasar Tani baru-baru ini, terus beli, kebetulan ada lebihan ubi dari resipi onde-onde, saya buat masak lemak. Hajathati tu nak masukkan kacang hijau, tapi dek kehabisan kacang hijau, saya buat apa yang ada sahaja. Puas rasa, memang lama betul tak makan.
